Tearing You Down to Build You Up
In May of 2008 the beloved USC Commons area and Topping Student Center was viciously torn down. Just kidding, it wasn’t vicious at all. Instead it was torn down so that the new (and promised to be much improved) Tutor Campus Center could be constructed.
So what’s going to make this new student center so much better than the rest? Apparently a lot. Administrators aren’t messing around with the $100 million budget (including a $30 million donation from USC Trustee Ronald Tutor). Here’s a look at what officials say will be included in the new center.
Bang for your ($100 Million) Bucks
Though there aren’t too many details available about what specifically will be featured in the new Student Center, it will no doubt be filled with Trojan Treasures like the ones mentioned here . Sure we may have missed our sushi bar and flower store, but a soaring rotunda and ballroom should make up for it. Here are some other things to look out for in Fall 2010 when construction is completed.
- Offices and work space for student groups
- Project and group study areas
- Meeting center for international students
- Multi-purpose areas for large gatherings and events
- Study lounges
- All the food one can dream of, including a convenience store, full-service restaurant, café’s, and various other delicious dining options
- Technology resources
Completion of the project is expected to come in Fall 2010, so look for these great new Trojan Treasures then!
